Poli Marathon – The Largest Recreational Event in Slovenia
Recently, recreational, but also more demanding cyclists, reserve every beginning of September for Poli Marathon, the largest Slovenian recreational event that, as a rule, attracts the crowd of several-thousand people to join its participants every year.
A specialty of Poli Marathon is that it is not designed as a traditional contest by time, but as an event of overcoming kilometres and self-control. Consequently, at Poli Marathon, we award the size of groups, the oldest and the youngest participants, and other special achievements. Good company, rich prizes, and excellent cuisine of Perutnina Ptuj invite you to join their company also this year.
Poli Marathon, however, is not only a cycling marathon, it is primarily a social event where cyclists enjoy their company. The organisers offer excellent cuisine in a true recreational spirit, the Poli Party, and other events. The fact that Poli Marathon is the largest recreational cycling event in Slovenia is without any doubt proven by the number of recreational cyclists growing steadily year after year.
At the 1st Poli Marathon, there were slightly over 800 cyclists turning their pedals, while last year, the organisers – Perutnina Ptuj, the Perutnina Ptuj Cycling Club, Di@log Company and Radio Tednik Ptuj – counted-up over 7,000 participants. Due to good organisation, interesting programme, and a large response by recreational people, today, we may really consider Poli Marathon the cycling event of the largest size in Slovenia.
