Storage
When preparing poultry, we need to be careful to store the leftovers in the refrigerator no later than within two hours and to eat them in three days. If we do not eat the meat within three days, it is best to throw it away.
If we wish to freeze the leftovers, we need to be careful that the meet is not kept in the freezer for too long. It is therefore advisable to equip the packaging in which the prepared meal is kept with a date and we can store the prepared poultry meal in a freezer for 4 months. We must pay special attention to the packaging being firmly closed. Before the prepared poultry is frozen, it needs to cool off completely.
Freezing
Poultry should be kept in the home refrigerator at 4 degrees Celsius or a freezer at 18 degrees Celsius. When freezing it, we need to consider the recommendations on how long poultry can stay frozen.
If frozen poultry thaws during your drive home from the store in the summer or because your freezer broke down, prepare the meat immediately and do not refreeze it. Frozen meat must not be thawed at room temperature but in the refrigerator.
Thawing
Frozen poultry must always be thawed in the refrigerator (4 °C) or under cold running water in its original packaging or in the microwave oven. The thawing time depends on the quantity of meat. The fundamental rule here is that thawed meat must never be refrozen.
